Hi, I am Jenifer Dewar, Assistant Director for Family Help at Norfolk County Council.
Norfolk is a ‘Good’ authority with ‘exceptional leadership’. We are proud of our Social Work Teams and value all our practitioners.
This is an exciting time to join the frontline Social Work teams at Norfolk following the launch of our new Family Help operating model. Family Help aligns with the ambitions of the National Children’s Social Care Review (2022) and the Government’s response, Stable Homes Built on Love (2023). It emphasizes and enhances practices that have proven successful for our children, families, and practitioners in Norfolk.
Six months ago, we implemented this way of working countywide after a successful trial period.
Family Help consists of multi-disciplinary teams working collaboratively to meet children’s needs, fostering a culture that prioritizes relationships, direct work, and extended family networking to achieve sustainable change.
Our family help teams include 22 Practitioners, with seven or eight being Social Workers. The team also comprises Family Support Workers, Specialist Practitioners, Assistant Managers, and Team Managers.
Cases are managed by the entire prevention and protection team, with families receiving targeted interventions early, improving outcomes for children and families. This approach has also benefited our Social Workers by reducing intervention times and paperwork.
Young people are central to our practice at Norfolk County Council. They have established key principles for their ideal worker to help them flourish. Please read these requirements carefully and apply only if you can fully commit to them.
We care about your wellbeing, promote flexible working, and develop Practitioners so everyone feels valued and part of our Norfolk County Council family.
We seek qualified Social Workers registered with Social Work England, experienced in Child Protection, Assessments, and Court Work. We value team players who share our vision to deliver the best outcomes for children and families.
We especially encourage applications from underrepresented groups, including Black and Global Majority practitioners, and are committed to equality and diversity within our Family Help teams.
