Job summary

Wigan Borough Community First is seeking a Development Worker to lead faith and community development across Wigan Borough. The role focuses on a coaching-led, place-based approach with faith spaces, interfaith networks and community groups to strengthen offer and belonging.

The postholder will travel across the borough, working flexibly to suit communities, with some evenings or weekends may be required. This is a 2-year fixed-term contract with a salary of £34,434 per annum.

Qualifications

• Experience in community development, preferably place-based.
• Understanding of faith communities and faith geography.
• Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
• Ability to work in coaching style with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with places of faith and faith-based organisations.
• Support Interfaith Network to remain inclusive and connected.
• Map and share insight on faith's role in wellbeing and belonging.
• Translate learning into clear insights for partners and funders.
• Help connect faith groups into funding, volunteering and partnerships.
