The Faculty of Medicine finance team is seeking to appoint a part-time accountant, qualified or a finalist, to join our professional team. This role supports a leading area of the University, renowned for excellence in medical education, research, and teaching.
The primary responsibility will be to serve as the main contact for financial management across several units within the four Schools of the Faculty of Medicine. This includes performing professional accountancy tasks related to planning, forecasting, monitoring, and year-end processes to support the School Accountants. Additionally, you will manage a small portfolio of research grants from various funders.
Applicants should be well-organized, with excellent analytical and numeracy skills, attention to detail, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines, and possess strong communication, IT, and customer service skills.
The role includes line-managing one staff member. Flexibility in working locations is required, with arrangements between Home, Highfield campus, and University Hospital Southampton, where key stakeholders are based.
This is a 0.6 FTE role, ideally over four days, totaling 21 hours per week.
