Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Northampton is seeking a Facilities and Services Support Cell Technician Engineer to join our Engineering Team. You will help ensure safety, legislative compliance, reliability and continuous improvement of plant support services across electrical, HVAC, compressed air and related systems.

The role requires a hands-on problem-solving mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead maintenance activities, with exposure to reliability-centred maintenance concepts

Qualifications

• Safety-conscious with the ability to identify hazards and mitigate risk.
• Proven lead facilities engineer with mechanical and electrical know-how.
• HNC or HND in facilities engineering or mechanical engineering; electrical qualification is a plus.
• Experience with compressed air, HVAC, boilers, fire protection, and balers.
• Excellent communication to coordinate with contractors and teams.
• Experience with SAP or CMMS and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety systems and practices are followed at all times.
• Identify and manage asset reliability risks to ensure safe operations.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies based on reliability data.
• Collaborate with engineering/maintenance teams to integrate new technologies.
• Prepare reports and document findings and improvements.
• Identify and propose new technologies to improve equipment performance.
• Analyze failure modes to prevent downtime using FMECA and statistics.
• Support capital projects ensuring reliability and durability.
