Job summary

Val Wade Recruitment is seeking a Facilities Operations Manager for an ongoing temporary role at a World Class University. You will lead Soft Services, manage FM Supervisors, and coordinate cleaning, portering and waste management across a large multi-building estate.

The role includes Royal duties during events and summer schools, with focus on safety, sustainability, and service quality. The ideal candidate has managerial FM experience, strong leadership, and proficient use of Excel/Outlook;

Qualifications

• managerial experience in Facilities Management or Cleaning Services.
• Soft Services experience.
• Confident Excel and Outlook user.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning, janitorial, portering and waste management operations.
• Leadership of multi functional teams across large estates.
• Contractor and supplier management.
• Management of attendance, conduct and performance.
• Knowledge of H&S legislation – COSHH, RAMS, risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Managing delivery of cleaning, janitorial and portering services to meet standards.
• Coordinating FM Supervisors within Soft Services.
• Overseeing deep cleaning, events, summer schools, and seasonal work.
• Acting as operational escalation point for urgent issues and incidents.
• Ensuring integration between Cleaning, Janitorial and Portering teams.
• Approving rotas and annual leave; overseeing absence management.
• Providing training where required.
• Ensuring Health & Safety compliance and audits.
