Job description

We’re Hiring………here at Vico Homes we are an award-winning team that delivers an excellent workplace experience to allow our colleagues to excel in their roles. From ensuring building compliance to providing first class conference venues, we do it all. It’s the nature of what we do, and for us, it’s why we do what we do, and love it. We are at the heart of everything: people, buildings, safety and compliance.

As one of three Facilities Officers, your role is to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the buildings within the corporate portfolio. This includes our Head Office at Merefield House, our Training and Stores facility at Normanton, and our satellite offices within the Wakefield area. You will also support and help other service areas as required.

Every day the workplace and facilities management profession faces challenges; no two days are ever the same, and even with the most meticulous planning, your daily plans will change. Flexibility keeps our sites and operations running. If something needs to change, we don’t hang about, we work at pace with a smile.

What you’ll do

As part of the operational team, you will be hands on creating and maintaining first class work environments. First impressions count.

This will involve ensuring the buildings are pristine and set correctly, identifying and undertaking minor repairs, along with managing upgrade work with the Facilities Managers. You will be responsible for contractor management and liaise with in-house Property Services trades and external contractors to ensure the buildings are presented in the best possible condition and that critical assets remain operational.

Health, safety and compliance reporting play a big part in what you’ll do, so there will be weekly H&S audits where any risks or non-compliance are reported for correction. You will carry out weekly fire alarm and panic alarm testing, legionella temperature checks, along with periodic running of back-up generators.

You will work with the Facilities Managers on projects and be contactable outside normal working hours should an emergency occur, where you would be expected to attend site if required. You will also be jointly responsible for maintaining the Facilities Team vehicle, ensuring compliance with Fleet procedures and guidelines.

Many of our meeting rooms have the latest video conferencing technology and you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of this equipment, along with managing bookings and room layouts, and ensuring hospitality is in place for our internal and external customers.

Externally we pride ourselves on the presentation of all our buildings. You will monitor and ensure the condition of the car parks and surrounding environments are clean and presentable.

What we’re looking for

You will be driven, courteous and have enthusiasm to carry you through the day. Working in Facilities Management is people centric and we are looking for that shining star that has a willingness to go the extra mile and provide superb customer service.

You will have an eye for detail, be flexible in your way of working and take pride in your responsibilities and that of the team. Experience in Facilities, Building Management and Hospitality is desirable, but not essential.

There will be a requirement to periodically work outside normal office hours and weekends, so flexibility is key.
