English Heritage is seeking a Facilities Manager for Stonehenge to lead the on-site Estates team. The role involves managing maintenance across buildings, services and infrastructure, and coordinating with contractors to ensure safety, compliance and operational readiness for a major visitor site.
You will plan maintenance programmes, oversee budgets, and provide input to capital projects, while supporting out-of-hours operations.
We are looking for a Facilities Manager to join our Estates team at Stonehenge.
This is a full-time, permanent role working 36 hours per week. Based at Stonehenge, you will play a key role in ensuring the Visitor Centre and associated facilities are safe, compliant, well maintained and able to support the operation of one of English Heritage’s most significant visitor sites.
We offer flexible working arrangements where the role allows.
Stonehenge combines an internationally important historic landscape and busy visitor attraction with a modern Visitor Centre incorporating complex building services and infrastructure.
As Facilities Manager, you will lead the Stonehenge Facilities team and manage specialist contractors to deliver planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the site and wider landscape. You will help ensure buildings, services and infrastructure remain safe, compliant, reliable and operational while supporting the day-to-day needs of the visitor operation.
Working closely with colleagues across Estates and the wider Stonehenge team, you will plan and prioritise maintenance, manage contractors and delegated budgets, and support the development and delivery of effective maintenance programmes. You will manage maintenance contracts and works, monitoring delivery, compliance, quality, cost and performance.
You will also provide client-side technical input to capital investment and improvement projects, supporting their delivery and handover and helping to ensure new and refurbished buildings and systems can be effectively operated and maintained.
The role covers a varied range of building services and infrastructure, including electrical installations, Building Management Systems, renewable energy systems, ground source heat pumps, wastewater treatment, vacuum toilet systems and visitor interpretation equipment.
This is an opportunity to take responsibility for facilities at a unique and internationally significant site, combining modern building systems and infrastructure with the operational demands of a busy visitor attraction and historic landscape.
The role is based at Stonehenge and includes supporting appropriate out-of-hours arrangements and occasional out-of-hours working to meet operational requirements. Travel to other sites, including some in remote locations, and occasional overnight stays may also be required.
We offer flexible working arrangements where the role allows. This role can be based at Stonehenge and may be worked on a home/hybrid/site-based pattern. You will be required to attend Stonehenge at least 4 x days per week.
