Job description
Facilities Manager - Secure Environment

Role Summary: Responsible for the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of all facilities and critical building services within a high‑security site. Ensures maintenance, statutory compliance, contractor control, and site resilience while working to strict security protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily facilities operations, ensuring uptime of M&E, HVAC, power, fire, water, lifts, and building fabric.
  • Deliver PPM and reactive maintenance via CAFM, meeting SLAs and maintaining full asset records.
  • Manage statutory compliance (fire, electrical, water hygiene/Legionella, LOLER/PUWER, asbestos, COSHH).
  • Lead permit‑to‑work and safe systems (hot works, isolations, confined spaces, working at height).
  • Procure, onboard, and supervise security‑cleared contractors; enforce RAMS and secure‑zone rules.
  • Support audits/inspections and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
  • Manage facilities budgets, lifecycle plans, and continuous improvement/energy efficiency.
  • Work closely with Security, H&S, IT, and Operations on resilience and change control.
  • Provide incident response and participate in on‑call rota as required.
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Facilities management background in secure/critical or regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of building services and compliance obligations.
  • Proven contractor management in restricted areas.
  • Budget control, reporting, and stakeholder management.
  • Calm, discreet, and decisive under pressure.
Desirable
