Job description

Job Description

How would you like to be paid for five days but only work four*? Our colleagues’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at OFG, so we’re always looking for new ways to improve everyone’s work/life balance. We’re taking part in a trial of the 4-Day Working Week, meaning that you could be working one day less a week (or equivalent).

If the trial is a success, we’ll be rolling the 4DWW out across the Group – so there’s never been a more exciting time to join team OFG! Are you a Facilities Manager looking to develop in a position that you can truly make a difference? We are looking for a responsible, hands-on Facilities Manager to join our fantastic team at our new school - Trimdon Hill School in Durham.

As Facilities Manager, you will support our pupils and staff by ensuring our sites are well maintained and equipped to meet their needs. This is a great opportunity to work as part of a team committed to helping pupils with varied and complex needs. You will take pride in maintaining our school, from day-to-day repairs to completing risk assessments, security procedures, equipment checks, and contributing to school development projects.

Our pupils thrive on consistency, and our Facilities Manager will ensure everything runs smoothly and safely. Previous experience in a similar setting is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided. The right DIY skills, motivation, and personal qualities are just as important. These roles are ideal for individuals with skills in maintenance, DIY, and health and safety, seeking a role that makes a real difference to pupils’ lives and futures.

You will be quality-focused, efficient, able to work at pace, and motivated to help us provide a safe, caring environment where every child can thrive.

Location: Trimdon Hill, Durham
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks per year
UK Applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

Essential: All applicants must hold a Full UK Driving Licence and have access to their own vehicle (fuel allowance provided). If you wish to discuss the role further, please email Ellie.Sharples@ofgl.co.uk.

Why join Options Autism? For over 16 years, Options Autism has provided care and education to pupils and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we lead in setting and delivering innovative approaches with measurable outcomes.

In 2024, Outcomes First Group was officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the fifth consecutive year.

Benefits: Your health and wellbeing are a priority, with a comprehensive reward package including life assurance, pension scheme, mental health support, physical health checks, and a flexible benefits platform offering health, wellbeing, and insurance benefits, discounts, Cycle to Work, Electric Car Purchase Scheme, Critical Illness Cover, and Family Growth Support (including enhanced maternity, paternity leave, and paid fertility treatment).

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and staff. All applicants will undergo social media checks and a fully enhanced DBS. We reserve the right to close the vacancy early if a high volume of suitable applications is received.

*You’ll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more time for personal pursuits. The 4DWW is subject to successful probation and is not a contractual benefit.*
