Job summary

Serco, recruiting on behalf of Leisure Solutions Community Trust (LSCT), seeks a Facilities Manager for a busy Oxford leisure facility. You will lead daily operations, drive safety standards, and deliver exceptional customer experiences in a welcoming environment.

You will manage Duty Managers, use data to guide improvements, and collaborate with the General Manager to support growth. DBS-required role, with strong emphasis on community health and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities management or similar operational leadership role.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop teams while fostering a positive workplace culture.
• Strong communication skills with colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
• Comfort using operational data to inform decisions and implement improvements.
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer experiences and community impact.
• Ice rink experience or willingness to learn ice-skating context is desirable; First Aid training or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe, effective and efficient operation of the facility, ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Support the General Manager in delivering operational plans and growth.
• Coach and develop Duty Managers and leaders to enable staff to grow and perform.
• Drive excellent customer service and build trust with customers and community.
• Use performance data and KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
• Oversee facility readiness, keyholder duties and emergency response support when needed.

Salary: £32,870.95 plus excellent benefits

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. We will also consider applications from candidates seeking part-time hours of 24-30 hours per week.

Working closely with the General Manager, you'll help drive growth, innovation and excellent customer experiences, while supporting colleagues to develop and thrive. Your work will have purpose – helping to create healthier, happier futures for the people who use the facility every day.

What You’ll Do As a Facilities Manager

• Lead the safe, effective and efficient operation of the facility, ensuring high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Support the General Manager in delivering operational plans, business objectives and sustainable growth.
• Manage, coach and develop Duty Managers and departmental leaders, creating headroom for people to grow and perform at their best.
• Drive excellent customer service, building trust with customers, stakeholders and the local community.
• Use performance data and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
• Take responsibility for facility readiness, keyholder duties and emergency response support when required.

• Experience in facilities management, leisure operations or a similar operational leadership environment.
• A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams while creating a positive and engaged workplace culture.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with colleagues, customers and external stakeholders.
• Confident using operational and performance data to make decisions and create impactful solutions.
• Committed to delivering excellent customer experiences and making a positive impact on communities.
• Ability to ice skate or experience working in an ice rink is highly desirable
• First Aid trained or willingness to work towards it

Vetting And Checks

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
