Job summary

London Fire Brigade is looking for a Facilities Management Officer to join the property team in a permanent, full-time role. The officer will nurture supplier relationships, ensure contracts meet expectations, and conduct audits to uphold high standards across fire stations.

A strong background in facilities management and M&E/building fabric maintenance is essential. The role requires excellent report writing and communication skills, with a preference for an H&S qualification.

Salary: £46,941 per annum
Grade: FRS E
Salary range: £46,941 – £56,071 per annum

London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non-operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).

Working as part of the property team, the Facilities Officer will support the relationship of key suppliers ensuring that contract requirements are met and that work is delivered to a high standard. It is an integral role in ensuring the properties are maintained to support the operational response. The role is customer facing and you will be expected to be a presence at the fire stations, carrying out audits, and building relationships internally and with suppliers. You will need to communicate any issues and provide recommendations for improvements to service delivery.

You will need to be an experienced facilities professional with a background in customer and supplier relationship management. An understanding of and significant exposure to M+E engineering and fabric maintenance is also crucial. Most importantly, you will be a confident communicator that is capable of writing reports and carrying out audits. A H+S qualification is also preferred.

Eligibility

Applicants should have:

  • A membership of an FM related professional body i.e. RICS/BIFM, CIBSE, IEE
  • A Health & Safety qualification (IOSH minimum or preferably NEBOSH)

Assessment Overview Stage 1

  1. An experienced property and facilities management professional proficient with the application of asset and risk management strategies.
  2. Significant experience in M&E engineering and/or building fabric maintenance.
  3. Ability to manage effective relationships with senior management/ stakeholders.
  4. Effective organisation and appropriate technical skills to ensure development and application of building systems and services for the successful delivery and management of property.

Please note that we will score the evidence you provide based on the competencies listed in the selection criteria above.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend stage 2.
