Job summary

Arnold Clark Group is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Operative for our GTG Training centre in Glasgow. You will join a small, dedicated team with opportunities to learn and progress in a busy events-focused environment.

The role covers semi-skilled maintenance across building upkeep, carpentry, decorating and related trades, with responsibilities including room set-ups, daily facility care, and building access at the end of the day. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in semi-skilled premises maintenance.
• Experience in general building works is required.
• Trades such as carpentry or joinery are relevant.
• Decorating/finishing skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set up function and meeting rooms to a high standard for guests.
• Maintain the facility to ensure everything runs to a high standard.
• Open and lock up the centre in the evening.
• Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
• Ensure all work follows risk assessments and regulations such as Working at heights, COSHH and manual handling.

Hours

Temporary - 9 month cover

Full time: Monday – Friday 7am – 4pm.

The role

You’ll be working as part of a small but perfectly formed team,with plenty of opportunities to learn and progress yourcareer.

The facilities team requires a mix of semi-skilled relevant experienceor previous trade experience in the following areas.

• Semi-skilled premises maintenance
• General building
• Carpenter or joiner
• Decorator

Day-to-day duties

• Setting up function and meeting rooms to a high standard to give a fantastic first impression to our guests
• Looking after the maintenance of the facility – generally ensuring everything’s run to a high standard
• Opening and locking up the centre in the evening
• Occasional evening and weekend work
• Ensuring all work is conducted in line with risk assessments
• Relevant regulations are following - Working at heights, COSSH and Manual handling

Essential skills

• You’ll be enthusiastic, driven and highly motivated, with a desire to go the extra mile to make an event successful
• You’ll have excellent communication and customer service skills that will shine through
• You’ll be able to adapt to a fast pace and pressure, always maintaining your high standards and a great sense of humour
