Job summary

GTG Training Limited in Edinburgh is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Operative at our training centre. You’ll work as part of a small team, with opportunities to learn and progress your career while helping to maintain facilities to a high standard.

The role involves general building tasks, light carpentry or decorating, and setting up rooms for events. You will open/close the centre, support occasional evenings or weekends, and follow risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance or related trades.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• General building maintenance tasks.
• Carpentry/joinery tasks where relevant.
• Decorating and set-up of function and meeting rooms to high standard.
• Maintain centre facilities and ensure smooth operation.
• Open and lock up the centre in the evening.
• Occasional evening and weekend work.
• Follow risk assessments and health and safety regulations.

Hours

Full time: Monday – Friday 7am – 4pm.

The role

You’ll be working as part of a small but perfectly formed team,with plenty of opportunities to learn and progress yourcareer.

The facilities team requires a mix of semi-skilled relevant experienceor previous trade experience in the following areas.

• General building
• Carpenter or joiner
• Decorator
• Setting up function and meeting rooms to a high standard to give a fantastic first impression to our guests
• Looking after the maintenance of the facility – generally ensuring everything’s run to a high standard
• Opening and locking up the centre in the evening
• Occasional evening and weekend work
• Ensuring all work is conducted in line with risk assessments
• Relevant regulations are following - Working at heights, COSSH and Manual handling

Essential skills

• You’ll be enthusiastic, driven and highly motivated, with a desire to go the extra mile to make an event successful
• You’ll have excellent communication and customer service skills that will shine through
• You’ll be able to adapt to a fast pace and pressure, always maintaining your high standards and a great sense of humour
