Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Engineer in Walsall to maintain buildings, equipment and infrastructure, ensuring safety and reliability. You’ll handle planned and reactive maintenance, support site operations and contribute to national defence and security objectives.

You will join a flexible, supportive team with a focus on continuous improvement, safety, and clear documentation. The role requires SC/NPPV eligibility and offers a structured 39-hour week with early starts.

Responsibilities

The role As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you'll provide operational facilities maintenance support across the site, ensuring buildings, equipment, and infrastructure remain safe, reliable, and fit for purpose. This varied role offers the chance to combine electrical and facilities maintenance expertise while contributing to a business that helps support national defence and security.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities across site facilities and equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns, fault-finding issues, and ensuring systems are made safe and restored efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, site assets, grounds, and housekeeping standards.
• Support contractors and stakeholders by coordinating activities and providing safe site access.
• Update maintenance records while following Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and identifying improvement opportunities.

This role is full time, 39 hours per week and is based at Walsall. Set working times are Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, and Friday, 7:00am to 12:00pm, with flexibility available.

Qualifications for the Facilities Maintenance Engineer

• 18th Edition Qualified (C&G 2382-22) (desirable)
• Test and Inspection Qualified (C&G 2391) (desirable)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) security clearance for this role.
