About us

Our purpose is simple: to save lives at sea. 24 hours a day, every day, RNLI lifesavers are ready to launch to the rescue. We’re looking for a Facilities Heating and Mechanical Engineer to join our facilities team. RNLI Facilities supports the RNLI through assisting with the maintenance of the built environment to meet its business objectives.

This position is based in Poole, primarily looking after our largest site, including the RNLI College, Sea Survival Training Centre, All-Weather Lifeboat Centre, and main offices and stores.

Your Role

You will be a practical, multi-skilled Heating, Plumbing, and Mechanical Engineer providing technical expertise to support the Facilities team. Your responsibilities include:

  • Proactively carrying out routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and addressing reactive calls
  • Planning new installations, either self-completed or supervised
  • Maintaining mechanical and plumbing critical spares
  • Managing your workload, procurement of materials, and energy-saving initiatives
  • Monitoring and adjusting plant controls via BMS systems
About You

You should enjoy working in a service environment with a pragmatic, positive approach. Requirements include:

  • Essential: Commercial plumbing experience, HVAC maintenance, NVQ Level 2 or higher in Plumbing or relevant trade, full driving license
  • Desirable: Electrical qualification, IPAF, PASMA, Asbestos awareness, Legionella training, Building management systems training, unvented water heater systems
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical services, building management, and Legionella compliance
