Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a Facilities Engineer for a large, technically advanced manufacturing site in Newport, South Wales. You will own and coordinate planned facilities activity and effectively respond to plant or building issues to keep production running safely.

You’ll manage on-site contractors, ensure safe work controls, and oversee outsourced technical resources, with opportunities to tackle projects from refurbishments to capital upgrades as the site evolves.

Qualifications

• Around five years or more of relevant engineering or facilities experience.
• A background in manufacturing, engineering, construction or another highly regulated environment.
• The confidence to manage contractors from initial scope through to safe completion of the work.
• A practical understanding of permits to work, RAMS and safe systems of work.
• Working knowledge of CDM 2015, particularly where facilities modifications and project work are concerned.
• A recognised engineering or craft background. A time-served apprenticeship would be particularly attractive, although relevant graduate-qualified engineers with the right practical experience will also be considered
• Mechanical, electrical or broader facilities engineering knowledge
• Enough commercial awareness to deal effectively with suppliers, quotations, resources and competing priorities
• NEBOSH knowledge or qualification would be beneficial, particularly given the emphasis on contractor safety and control

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planned facilities activity and respond to issues quickly.
• Manage contractors on site and ensure safety controls before work begins.
• Coordinate outsourced technical resources and adapt support to site needs.
• Develop smaller engineering projects such as refurbishments, redesigns and facility improvements.
• Progress toward larger capital projects within a highly technical manufacturing environment.
