This role involves maintaining and developing SSTL’s satellite manufacturing and operational facilities across seven sites. The position includes managing projects related to new facilities and capabilities, supporting the company's goal to become net carbon zero.
Key Tasks
- Monitor and maintain all facilities, utilities, and site services to ensure high availability and operational order, including high-specification clean rooms. Develop preventative maintenance and lifecycle schedules.
- Respond to and manage breakdowns and alarms, carry out emergency repairs, and mitigate faults while awaiting specialist attendance.
- Design, estimate, plan, manage, and approve electrical, mechanical, and civil enhancements for various facilities.
- Supervise, monitor, and verify work carried out by subcontractors, sometimes outside normal hours.
- Manage the delivery, positioning, relocation, and integration of new plant and equipment.
- Maintain maintenance logs and budgets, and complete necessary documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards, and manage hazardous materials according to COSHH and REACH regulations.
- Develop and oversee risk assessments for activities.
- Innovate technologies and solutions to reduce energy consumption and support carbon neutrality.
- Provide out-of-hours support for sites and facilities.
Previous Experience
- Experience in construction or facilities management, including leading outsourced contractors and working with service providers.
- Practical skills or trade experience.
- Background in building construction and services maintenance projects.
- Flexibility and willingness to undertake various tasks.
- Competence with mechanical and electrical services, troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with mechanical & electrical tools and testing equipment.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
- Higher National Diploma or equivalent in an engineering or facilities-related discipline preferred.
- Relevant experience in facilities management within construction or manufacturing sectors.
- Nebosh Diploma or IOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health is advantageous.
- Full driving license required for site travel.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in teams.
- Good presentation skills, adaptable to changing priorities, proactive.
- Strong planning, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project.
