Job summary

City of Wolverhampton Council is recruiting Caretakers to support multiple council-managed buildings across Wolverhampton. The role is hands-on, combining security, maintenance, cleaning and grounds tasks to keep environments safe, welcoming and well presented for staff and visitors.

You will patrol sites, perform minor repairs, manage access, support events, and work on a rota; a full UK driving licence and enhanced DBS are required, with occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance or site support.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and practices.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key holder for council premises and manage site access.
• Carry out routine security checks and report incidents or breaches.
• Perform building maintenance tasks, plumbing, carpentry and decorating as needed.
• Conduct regular fire safety checks and ensure clear escape routes.
• Keep buildings and grounds clean, stocked and well presented.
• Support with room setups and event lettings, and assist contractors on site.
