Wolverhampton City Council is seeking a Caretaker to support the wellbeing of communities across the City of Wolverhampton. This ongoing field-based role ensures facilities are safe, clean and secure, reporting to the Area Facilities Officer with a pay of £13.69 per hour.

The post involves site hygiene, security, risk assessments and hands-on maintenance across multiple locations, offering varied environments and opportunities to develop skills in facilities management.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of sites to required standards.
• Distribute materials, parcels and furniture to support operations.
• Ensure premises security by unlocking gates, activating alarms and locking up.
• Act as site safety officer for all site users.
• Carry out risk assessments and urgent cleaning or repair tasks.
• Liaise with local police to maintain a safe environment.
• Perform regular inspections to address damages and vandalism.
• Maintain heating and lighting so facilities are comfortable.
• Test fire alarms and emergency lighting to meet safety regulations.
• Assist with grounds maintenance to keep paths hazard-free.

What you will do:

• Liaise with local police to maintain a safe environment and advise staff on security measures.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify and address damages, wear and tear, or vandalism.

• Assist with grounds maintenance, ensuring pathways and open areas are kept tidy and hazard-free.
