Job summary

Kent County Council is seeking a reliable Multi-Skilled Operative (handyperson) to maintain council properties across Kent, including Ashford and Sittingbourne. This six-month fixed-term, 18.5 hours per week role offers flexibility for those seeking part-time work with potential for permanency.

You will carry out general repairs, maintain safety and cleanliness, support residents and staff, and help keep buildings well-presented. A valid UK driving license is required.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking or property maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Undertake general repairs and maintenance across buildings.
• Check heating, lighting, alarms and other systems.
• Maintain security and assist with lock/unlock tasks.
• Coordinate contractors and manage supplies.
• Keep communal areas clean and safe.
• Assist with gardening, outdoor spaces and snow/ice removal.
• Ensure health and safety checks are conducted.
• Provide friendly service to staff, visitors and residents.
