Job summary

The City Council is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to help keep facilities safe, clean, and secure across multiple sites in Wolverhampton. The role is ongoing and field-based, reporting to the Area Facilities Officer, with a pay rate of £13.69 per hour.

You will be responsible for site hygiene, security, risk assessments, minor repairs, grounds maintenance, and liaising with local police when needed. A flexible, hands-on approach will help you thrive in our dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of our sites ensuring they are in line with required standards at all times.
• Distribute materials, parcels, and furniture effectively to support the operational needs of various locations.
• Ensure the security of premises by unlocking gates and doors in the morning, activating alarm systems, and locking up in the evening.
• Act as the site safety officer, ensuring the safety and well-being of all site users.
• Perform risk assessments and attend to any urgent cleaning or repair tasks as they arise.
• Liaise with local police to maintain a safe environment and advise staff on security measures.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify and address damages, wear and tear, or vandalism.
• Maintain heating and lighting, ensuring the facilities are comfortable and functional.
• Test fire alarms and emergency lighting to uphold safety regulations across all sites.
• Assist with grounds maintenance, ensuring pathways and open areas are kept tidy and hazard-free.
