The City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to help keep council-managed buildings and surrounding areas safe, clean and well maintained.

Based across various locations in the City of Wolverhampton, the role is field-based with responsibilities ranging from opening/securing facilities to minor repairs, routine inspections and supporting fire safety arrangements. Salary is £13.69 per hour, with DBS checks as required.

• Able to identify and report faults, hazards and maintenance issues.

Responsabilités

• Open and secure buildings, including operating security systems and checking for breaches.
• Carry out regular inspections of buildings, grounds and facilities.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and general site presentation.
• Report and respond appropriately to damage, vandalism and maintenance issues.
• Carry out minor repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, plastering, painting and decorating.
• Monitor heating, lighting, water and other building services.
• Record gas and electricity meter readings when required.
• Support fire safety arrangements, including checking alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors and escape routes.
• Maintain accurate records, logs and reports.
• Supervising and monitoring contractors working on site.
• Moving furniture, equipment, parcels and materials as required.
• Maintaining external areas, including litter picking, weeding, pruning, snow and ice clearance and graffiti removal.
• Supporting room lettings and ensuring areas are prepared and restored to the required standard.
• Following all Council health and safety policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
• Responding appropriately to emergencies and helping to maintain a safe environment for staff and visitors.
• Where required and subject to appropriate training, the role may also involve swimming pool and filtration plant duties.
