Job summary

Sussex Community is seeking a Facilities Assistant to maintain clean, safe and welcoming environments across wards, departments, health centres and community hubs. You will use cleaning equipment, manage waste, replenish supplies and support infection prevention and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Reliable and dependable with good communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and prioritise quality.
  • Strong understanding of infection prevention principles and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

  • Clean all surfaces to remove dust and debris.
  • Clean all hard floors and mop daily.
  • Operate electrical cleaning equipment.
  • Empty, clean and replenish waste bins.
  • Seal waste bags and dispose of waste appropriately.
  • Replenish consumables (towels, soap, toilet rolls).
  • Be flexible to work at any Trust site.
  • Ensure correct storage of items.
  • Collect, wash and return crockery and kitchen utensils.
  • Collect and replace soiled linen.
  • Coordinate collection and delivery of goods.
  • Transport patients between wards and departments as needed.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages as required.
  • Maintain security at all times.
  • Complete departmental paperwork as required.
  • Assist with serving meals to patients, visitors and staff.
  • Prepare adequate crockery and cutlery before service times.
  • Ensure food presentation, portion control, temperature and quality standards.
