Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Ward Facilities Assistant to support the ward team by coordinating catering, cleaning and maintenance services, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients.

You will work under the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse, undertake non-clinical duties, adhere to infection prevention and control policies, and help maintain hygiene, food service and patient comfort across the ward.

Qualifications

• Basic literacy and numeracy to understand written instructions, complete records and measure accurately.
• Willingness to complete mandatory and role-specific training including infection prevention and control.
• Relevant qualification in cleaning, facilities services, hospitality or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Establish a welcoming atmosphere for patients, visitors and staff.
• Maintain cleaning standards on the ward and ensure safe, tidy areas.
• Ensure supplies like alcohol gel dispensers and paper towels are replenished.
• Monitor fridge temperature, label and date food, and dispose of out-of-date items.
• Support Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to deliver facilities services and liaise with support services.
