Job summary

Sigma Recruitment Limited in Cardiff seeks a Facilities and Health & Safety Manager to own all facilities, maintenance and safety on a self-contained site of around 90 people. You will line-manage the on-site Maintenance Engineer and drive reliable, compliant operations.

The role is 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Thu 08:00-16:30 and Fri 08:00-13:30, with a salary of £44,000–£48,000 depending on experience and a strong benefits package including pension, holidays and life assurance.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification and health & safety certification requirement.
• Hands-on maintenance and facilities management in manufacturing with machining capabilities.
• Experience managing contractors and coordinating external service providers, plus supporting health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead site facilities, infrastructure and utilities, ensuring reliability and compliance.
• Develop and run a planned preventative maintenance programme to reduce downtime.
• Coordinate contractors and external specialists to ensure safe delivery of work.
• Support operational teams with risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements.
• Assist in driving ISO certifications and audits for the site.
• Get hands-on with repairs alongside the Maintenance Engineer when needed.

What youll do as the Facilities and Health & Safety Manager

• Youll be the go-to person for everything facilities, maintenance and safety on a self-contained Cardiff site of around 90 people, line managing the site Maintenance Engineer.
• Lead site facilities, infrastructure and utilities, keeping everything reliable and compliant
• Build and run a planned preventative maintenance programme to cut downtime
• Coordinate and control contractors and external specialists, making sure work is delivered safely
• Support operational teams with risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements
• Help drive the business towards its next ISO certification and audit
• Get hands-on with repairs alongside the Maintenance Engineer when needed

What youll need to apply for the Facilities and Health & Safety Manager

• An engineering qualification and IOSH Managing Safely or a NEBOSH general certificate.
• Hands-on maintenance and facilities management in a manufacturing environment that includes machining capabilities.
• Experience managing contractors and coordinating external service providers, plus supporting health and safety in an operational setting.
