Job summary

AWD online in Leeds is seeking a Fabricator Welder to join a specialist steelwork environment. You will turn raw steel into accurate assemblies from drawings using cutting, grinding, welding and fabrication equipment.

From working with supervisors, you will meet project deadlines while maintaining dimensional accuracy, quality and safe workshop standards. Experience in steel fabrication and welding is essential; trade qualification preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in steel fabrication and working with engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in welding and metalworking processes.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Ability to safely handle materials and meet physical requirements of the role.
• Knowledge of workshop health and safety practices.
• Reliable, punctual and dependable with a strong work ethic.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Trade qualification in fabrication/welding preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand engineering drawings and project specifications.
• Fabricate and assemble steel components including UBs, UCs, PFCs and CHSs.
• Carry out cutting, grinding and welding tasks to meet project requirements.
• Use hand tools and fabrication machinery safely and effectively.
• Ensure fabricated work meets dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
• Operate lifting equipment including overhead cranes.
• Maintain a safe, tidy work area and follow health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to meet deadlines.
