Job Purpose
To fabricate and weld various STATS tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner while ensuring that a quality product is produced at all times.

Main Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld complete tools/equipment according to standards and procedures set by STATS and its clients.
- Maintain high standards of quality for products and services.
- Work safely at all times to protect colleagues, clients, and visitors.
- Manage movement of materials and equipment within the shop area.
- Report defects to materials, components, or equipment to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Ensure all drawings, procedures, and instructions are current before commencing work.
- Contribute to the proposal and adoption of new fabrication/welding techniques to improve productivity and safety.
- Assist in training apprentices as needed.
- Liaise with the Manufacturing Supervisor on issues arising.
- Report environmental, health, and safety issues.
- Adhere to STATS standards and company procedures.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Assist in creating risk assessments when required.
- Coordinate with the supervisor on material, customer, and project issues.
- Support the introduction of new safety equipment.
- Maintain sufficient stock levels and material traceability.
- Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and current.
- Support other departments as needed.

- Comply with STATS and client quality, safety, and environmental systems and procedures.
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and hazards immediately, completing relevant paperwork.

Experience, Competence, Skills, and Knowledge
- Ability to work effectively in a small, focused team with high standards and client deadlines.
- Flexibility for shift work as required.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in using fabrication and welding equipment safely.
- Ability to operate inspection tools.
- Understanding of various fabrication and welding methods.
- Planning skills for fabrication and welding processes.
- Effective use of lifting equipment.
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Understanding of engineering terminologies and fabrication/welding equipment.
Qualifications
- Mechanical trade qualification with a broad understanding of fabrication and welding techniques.
- Experience with TIG, sub arc, FCAW, and profile burning is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
- Welding to a 6G standard, with training provided.

- Ability to work independently.
- Positive and proactive attitude.
