Job summary

NSG Environmental Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking skilled welders to join our project teams across nuclear sites. You will lay out, weld and finish assemblies to tight specifications, inspect welds, use measuring tools and ensure health and safety compliance. MIG, MMA and TIG welding in accordance with approved procedures are required.

Experience with AutoCAD drawings and ISO 9001/14001/45001 knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. Key Objectives
Tasks
  • Laying out, positioning and securing parts and assemblies according to specifications, drawings or instructions. Analysing engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations
  • Tack-welding or welding components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc or other welding equipment
  • Grinding operations
  • Installation or repairs to fabricated items
  • Observes test welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications
  • Inspect grooves, angles or gap allowances using callipers and precision measuring instruments
  • Removes rough spots for work piece using grinders, hand file or scraper
  • Heats, forms and dresses metal parts using hand tools, torch or arc welding equipment
Equipment
  • Inspect and maintain the equipment provided to ensure it is fit and safe for the intended operation.
  • Report any and all defects or issues to the Project Manager, Project Engineer or Operations Manager
  • Responsibility manage the use of materials and consumables, informing the Workshop supervisor when stocks are low
  • The Company will make provision for the availability of PPE and working equipment in line with current legislation and legal requirements
Health & Safety
  • Maintain your work area in a safe, clean and tidy acceptable environment
  • Ensure your work area does not impinge on any other person’s safety
  • Obtain screens and barriers when required to minimise health and safety hazards to other building users
  • The use of machinery during the manufacturing process may be required an any training requirements will be provided by the Company prior to commencing operations
Other
  • Prior to and during any welding operations, inspections will be carried out by the resident welding inspector and/or Quality Engineer. It is incumbent on the operator to ensure quality is maintained at all times to achieve the Company aspirations of "Right First Time". Any weld and quality concerns raised by the inspectors MUST be rectified as directed as soon as practicably possible
  • Undertake all operations assigned to you as required including following procedures and processes. This may from time to time, or as deemed necessary by the business to consider break periods where flexibility may be required
  • An open and honest approach to working must be at the forefront of any discussions and agreement where capability, confidence and understanding is required to minimise repeat work or defects
  • Above all look after yours and each other’s safety is number one.
