Job summary

Morson Group in Plymouth is seeking skilled Marine Fabricators for work at Devonport Dockyard, on-site. You will apply fabrication experience to repair and alter structures in metal, reading engineering drawings and following technical specs.

Ideal candidates will have marine engineering experience with Royal Navy or large vessels; time-served apprenticeship or Level 3 engineering qualification; SC security clearance is required; role initially 6 months with potential extension; 35 hours per

Job description

We are recruiting for skilled and experienced Marine Fabricators for work within Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth, this could see you working on various projects onsite.

Using your Fabrication experience, you will work on a wide variety of platforms undertaking structural repairs and alterations.

Working to engineering drawings and technical specifications, you will manufacture structural modules, fabricate and alter structures in a variety of metals and thickness.

You will need the ability to read engineering drawings, to interpret work instructions and be competent in the use of general workshop tools & machinery specific to Fabrication.

Ideally you will have worked in the marine engineering industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience from other engineering sectors will be considered.

Preferable additional experience:

• Experience of working within Marine Engineering environment


• Time served apprentice within the field of Marine Engineering/Naval engineering Environment

Qualifications required (at least one of the following):

• Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to the role


• Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a sheet metal, structural steel or fabrication related discipline


• Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role

Ability to obtain and hold SC Security clearance is a requirement of this role

This role is initially for 6 months but this could be extended for the right candidate.

35 std hours a week, Monday to Friday, shift work and additional hours a possibility for this role.
