Job summary

Ford & Stanley are recruiting a Fabricator for their Hyde facility in the Manchester area. You will read engineering drawings and fabricate bespoke steel components using mild steel up to 25mm thick, employing various workshop methods to meet exacting quality standards.

The successful candidate will work on a structured, long-term role with regular overtime and an early finish on Fridays, contributing to complex bespoke fabrications for critical projects.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
• Fabricate and assemble bespoke steel components to customer requirements.
• Work with mild steel up to 25mm thick using workshop machinery.
• Carry out forming, shaping and finishing to tight tolerances.
• Maintain quality through dimensional inspections and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
• Fabricate and assemble bespoke steel components to customer requirements.
• Work with mild steel materials up to 25mm thick.
• Carry out forming and shaping operations using a range of fabrication techniques.
• Operate workshop equipment including pyramid rollers, punch presses and radial arm drills.
• Tack components in preparation for welding and perform dimensional checks.
• Maintain clean, organised, safe working environment to production schedules.
• Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives where applicable.

Location: Hyde, Manchester

Salary: £38k - £44k depending on experience + Overtime Available

Hours: 38.5 Hours Per Week Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 4:15pm Friday: 7:30am to 1:00pm

Ford & Stanley are pleased to be working with our client, a leading manufacturer within the water, utilities, and heavy engineering sector, to recruit an experienced Fabricator for their manufacturing facility in Hyde.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business producing bespoke fabricated products for critical infrastructure projects. The role offers a varied workload and would suit a skilled fabricator who enjoys working on bespoke fabrications rather than repetitive production work.

The Role

Working from engineering drawings, you will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of bespoke components, predominantly using mild steel up to 25mm thick. You will utilise a range of fabrication techniques and workshop machinery to manufacture products to exacting quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Essentials

• Proven experience as a Fabricator within a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience working with mild steel up to 25mm thickness.
• Competent using fabrication and forming equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
