Job summary

Aqumen Business Solutions is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Fabricator in Leeds to join the production team. The role involves working from engineering drawings to fabricate and weld high-quality metal components, primarily using TIG and MIG processes.

The ideal candidate will have 3–4+ years’ post-apprenticeship experience in sheet metal fabrication, with strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of health and safety practices. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work with stainless, mild, and aluminium as required.

Responsibilities

Sheet Metal Fabricator

Salary: up to £33,592 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:30am-4:30pm
Overtime: Available at enhanced rates

A well-established and growing manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Skilled Sheet Metal Fabricator to join its production team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served or experienced fabricator who is confident working from engineering drawings and producing high-quality fabricated components to precise standards.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of sheet metal fabrication and welding activities, working with materials including stainless steel, mild steel and, where applicable, aluminium.

You will be expected to work accurately and efficiently, interpret technical drawings, operate fabrication machinery and ensure finished work meets the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricating and assembling a variety of bespoke metalwork and fabricated components.
• TIG and MIG welding across a range of materials.
• Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Operating equipment including press brakes, guillotines, rollers and punches.
• Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets required quality standards.
• Maintaining accurate and consistent workmanship.
• Working in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures.
• Keeping the workshop and working area clean, organised and safe.
• Working effectively both independently and as part of a wider production team.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3-4+ years' post-apprenticeship experience within sheet metal fabrication.
• Strong practical and technical fabrication skills.
• Proven experience working from engineering drawings.
• TIG and MIG welding experience.
• Experience operating press brakes, guillotines, rollers and punches.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
• The ability to work independently and use initiative.
• A reliable, adaptable and self-motivated approach.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A strong understanding of workshop Health & Safety and housekeeping standards.

Aluminium welding/fabrication experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Working Hours & Overtime

• Monday to Thursday: 6:30am-4:30pm
• Friday: Non-working day unless overtime is required
• Overtime available when allocated, paid at time and a half
• 38-hour working week

• GCSE or equivalent qualification desirable.
• Full UK driving licence desirable.
