Job summary

Ashton Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a global engineering and manufacturing organisation for a Fabrication Welder in Monkstown, Northern Ireland. This permanent role offers £16.20 per hour, Monday-Thursday 6:00am-3:00pm and Friday 6:00am-12:00pm.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Fabrication/Welding.
  • Previous experience in fabrication or welding environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Commitment to high Health & Safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out MIG welding on mild steel components to a high standard.
  • Producing welds in line with drawings and specifications.
  • Inspecting welds for accuracy and integrity.
  • Preparing materials for welding (grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, cutting).
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and shop orders.
  • Setting up and safely operating welding/fabrication equipment.
  • Completing first-off and in-process inspections.
  • Working to production schedules and achieving output targets.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance on welding equipment.
  • Maintaining 5S and housekeeping in the work area.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and developing jigs/fixtures.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and cross-training.

Ashton Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a global engineering and manufacturing organisation specialising in wet processing equipment for the natural processing and waste recycling sectors, for an experienced Fabrication Welder to join their manufacturing team in Monkstown.

Job Title: Fabrication Welder
Location: Monkstown, Northern Ireland
Pay Rate: £16.20 per hour
Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 3:00pm | Friday, 6:00am - 12:00pm

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced and skilled Fabrication Welder to join their manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or experienced welder/fabricator to join a well-established global engineering company, working on the manufacture of high-quality equipment and components.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out fabrication and welding duties to a high standard, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with engineering drawings, welding specifications and company quality standards.

Duties will include:

  • Carrying out MIG welding on mild steel components
  • Producing high-quality welds in line with engineering drawings and welding specifications
  • Inspecting and verifying weld accuracy and integrity
  • Preparing materials for welding through grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and shop orders
  • Setting up and safely operating welding and fabrication equipment
  • Completing first-off and in-process inspections in accordance with company quality standards
  • Working to agreed production schedules and achieving required output targets
  • Carrying out routine and preventative maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment
  • Monitoring equipment condition and reporting maintenance requirements promptly
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and 5S within the work area
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities within the fabrication department
  • Assisting with the development and improvement of jigs and fixtures to improve accuracy, efficiency and repeatability
  • Working closely with colleagues and sharing knowledge to support cross-training
  • Following all company Health & Safety and environmental procedures at all times

Essential Criteria

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Fabrication/Welding, or relevant industry experience
  • Previous experience working within a similar fabrication or welding environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of fabrication processes and workshop practices
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a busy manufacturing team
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety

Additional Information

All successful candidates will be required to complete and pass a fabrication and weld test following interview and before employment is confirmed.

The successful candidate will be expected to work to agreed production schedules while maintaining the required standards of quality, safety and efficiency.
