Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Fabrications team in Mansfield. You will support the growth of the fabrications business by assisting the design team to plan and conduct design calculations, select materials and apply engineering techniques.

You will prepare or modify drawings, specifications and calculations, monitor work for compliance with codes and industry practices, and use Tekla and AutoCAD to develop layout and designs.

Qualifications

• Have knowledge of basic drafting standards and principles.
• Able to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and 2+ years of experience with knowledge in civil and/or structural engineering.
• Have experience working with TSD or equivalent finite element analysis software.
• Have working knowledge of Auto Cad or other drafting software.

Responsibilities

• Provide design input at the outline, optioneering and detailed design stage of the project.
• Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, GT Fabs standard designs and experience.
• Commercial awareness and focus on efficient, cost effective design.
• Review Structural plans, designs, layouts and loading criteria.
• Consult with the Project Management team as to the ‘constructability’ of the steelwork structures.
• Support by completing ‘outline sectioning calculations’ for the engineering proposals team.
• Support the ongoing development of the GT Fabs business by reviewing new technologies, new ways of working and software packages.
• Occasional site visits for field measurements and client meetings.
