CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting for a Fabric Technician.
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Fabric Technician with Plumbing experience to join our on-site Facilities team supporting a major refinery and associated office facilities. This is a hands‑on role responsible for delivering high-quality planned and reactive maintenance services across commercial office accommodation, welfare facilities, workshops, and operational support buildings.
The successful candidate will possess strong building fabric maintenance skills combined with practical plumbing experience and a proactive approach to health, safety, and customer service.
What You’ll Do:
Building Fabric Maintenance
- Carry out repairs to doors, locks, windows, flooring, ceilings, partitions, and general building fabric.
- Undertake minor carpentry, joinery, painting, decorating, and patch repair works.
- Replace ceiling tiles and undertake internal and external fabric repairs.
- Install and repair office furniture, fixtures, fittings, and signage.
- Support minor refurbishment and improvement projects across the site.
Plumbing Duties
- Diagnose and repair minor plumbing faults including leaks, blocked sinks, toilets, and drainage issues.
- Repair and replace taps, valves, sanitary ware, and associated plumbing components.
- Carry out routine washroom inspections and maintenance.
- Support water hygiene compliance activities, including flushing regimes and temperature monitoring.
- Assist with minor plumbing installations and modifications.
Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Respond promptly and effectively to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns.
- Identify faults, determine root causes, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using mobile CMMS systems.
- Support specialist contractors and escort duties where required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in accordance with refinery safety standards, permit-to-work systems, and company procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and site requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections and report hazards, defects, accidents, and near misses.
- Complete risk assessments and comply with safe systems of work.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety.
What You’ll need:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing, Carpentry, Building Maintenance, or a related trade discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a Fabric Technician, Building Maintenance, Handyperson, or Facilities Maintenance role.
- Practical plumbing experience within commercial, industrial, or facilities management environments.
- Experience carrying out both PPM and reactive maintenance activities.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working within refinery, petrochemical, industrial, or highly regulated environments.
- Water Hygiene Awareness qualification.
- IOSH Working Safely or equivalent.
- Experience using CMMS systems and mobile working technology.
- Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and contractor control procedures.
