Job summary

NHS Property Services is seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative (Fabric) to maintain NHS properties across Greater Manchester from the Kennedy Way hub. You will perform a broad range of fabric repairs, manage a varied workload, and travel between sites, ensuring safety and compliance.

You will work independently within an operational team, delivering high workmanship and strong customer service, with participation in an on-call rota and opportunities to support planned maintenance and small

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent experience.
• NVQ Level 3 Carpentry & Joinery.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience in maintenance, facilities management, or property services.
• Knowledge of healthcare/public sector compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with CAFM systems and mobile working tech.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance across NHS sites.
• Undertake carpentry and joinery repairs (doors, locks, flooring, ceilings, fixtures).
• Complete fabric inspections and identify remedial works.
• Carry out fire door inspections and related compliance tasks.
• Ensure work meets safety standards and is well-documented in records.
• Update maintenance systems and liaise with site teams to minimise disruption.
• Support minor project works and refurbishment activities.
• Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools per procedures.
