Job summary

VIVO is seeking a dedicated Fabric Operative to maintain and improve facilities at RAF Croughton and Barford St Johns. You will perform fabric maintenance, basic carpentry, plumbing checks, painting, and minor civil works while ensuring safety and high workmanship standards.

You will liaise with other trades, support operational teams, and represent VIVO on site for UK Defence estate services. A full UK driving licence is required; PASMA/IPAF are advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• Proven background in fabric maintenance or building repairs.
• Good communication with clients and colleagues on site.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation applicable to facilities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fabric maintenance and repair tasks (doors, floors, ceilings).
• Perform basic carpentry, plumbing checks, and painting touch-ups.
• Complete fence repairs and assist minor civil works as required.
• Liaise with trades to ensure safe, efficient on-site delivery.
• Represent VIVO on site and support Defence personnel on RAF Croughton.

Job description

Are you a skilled Fabric Engineer with a passion for maintaining high-quality facilities and infrastructure? Do you take pride in delivering excellent workmanship and being part of a team that keeps critical environments running smoothly?, Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining and improving buildings and external works across RAF Croughton and Barford St Johns. As a Fabric Operative, you will ensure facilities are safe, functional and maintained to a high standard, supporting operational teams and Defence personnel across the site. This is also a client-facing role where you will represent VIVO on site, so strong communication skills and a professional approach are essential. The role involves carrying out a range of fabric maintenance and repair tasks including basic carpentry work, repairs to doors, floors and ceilings, and routine maintenance checks on building fabric items. You will also carry out minor plumbing checks and repairs on sinks and taps, undertake painting touch-ups and general making good, complete fence repairs and support minor civil works where required. You will liaise with other trades to ensure work is completed efficiently and contribute to the clear communication of company objectives and procedures. The role also requires keeping up to date with industry developments and supporting improvements and innovation across the service.
