Equans Fabric Engineer Job Description

Equans is seeking a Fabric Engineer to join our team at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. This full-time, permanent role offers a salary of £28,000 to £30,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, along with an excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities

1. Support the Estates Management team in delivering 24-hour maintenance services.
2. Promote excellent customer service, liaising with stakeholders to resolve maintenance issues.
3. Diagnose faults, repair, and maintain hospital equipment after training.
4. Perform building tasks such as carpentry, painting, and flooring.
5. Participate in the on-call rota for maintenance emergencies.
6. Work in challenging environments, including unblocking drains and sewers, with potential exposure to hazards.
7. Coordinate with the Stores Team for materials requisition and security.
8. Monitor contractors to ensure compliance with standards.
9. Adhere to statutory health, safety, and environmental regulations.
10. Perform work across multiple trades within your competence.
11. Carry a radio or pager for immediate response to urgent tasks.

Candidate Requirements

• NVQ or City & Guilds Craft Certificate or similar trade qualification
• Competent in flooring and upholstery
• Experience in building maintenance and systems
• Basic IT skills and familiarity with PDAs
• Ability to obtain a DBS Standard Check due to contract requirements
