Equans is looking for a Fabric Engineer to join our team at Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of fabric maintenance and minor works, including statutory fire door inspections, reactive repairs, smoke and intumescent strip replacement, plaster repairs, painting, lock repairs, and other related tasks within your scope of expertise. Accuracy in record keeping and adherence to safety procedures are essential, as is the responsible use and maintenance of regular and specialist tools. You will also participate in an on-call rota to provide 24/7 response coverage for Stobhill Hospital, with paid call time for coverage periods. What will you deliver? Conduct statutory fire door inspections and perform reactive repairs such as strip replacements, plastering, painting, and lock repairs. Maintain accurate records and complete all electronic and paper-based work reports and task assessments. Use and maintain tools and equipment responsibly, performing daily safety inspections. Comply with EQUANS safe operation rules for low voltage, mechanical, pressure, water, medical gas, and confined spaces systems. Work to Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) and other statutory compliance standards. Participate actively in planned maintenance schemes and respond promptly to unplanned events to meet SLA and minimize service disruptions. Produce method statements and risk assessments to support permit-to-work processes. Work overtime as needed to complete installations, improvements, maintenance, and emergency repairs. Liaise professionally with Facilities Team Leaders, NHS clients, and contractors to coordinate work and supply requirements. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of tools, workshops, storage, and equipment areas. Take part in an on-call rota for 24/7 emergency coverage. Who are we looking for? Completed recognised Joinery apprenticeship. Previous experience in building fabric maintenance or similar role. Hospital maintenance experience desirable but not essential. Competence in working with building service systems relevant to the role. Good technical knowledge to identify and mitigate hazards related to the work. Familiarity with relevant tools, equipment, and safety procedures. Desirable but not essential: knowledge of Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM), Permit to Work procedures, SHTM 06-01, BSRIA standards, L8, Pressure Systems Regulations 2000, etc. This role includes a Disclosure Scotland PVG check therefore ability to pass is essential.
