Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking two Fire Door Inspectors based from Bellshill, covering sites across the Central Belt of Scotland. This full-time role involves inspections of fire doors, reporting via PDA/tablet, and maintaining documentation while complying with safety procedures.

The ideal candidate will have BM TRADA/FDIS/BRE qualifications, a full UK driving licence, and ability to work independently with strong time-management and customer-service skills.

Job description

Equans is looking for 2x Fire Door Inspectors to join our team. You will be based from our Bellshill office covering sites across the Central Belt of Scotland. This is a full time permanent role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.

This role is critical to ensuring public safety by identifying, investigating, and mitigating fire door risks across various sites. You will be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring proactive communication at all times. Your work will be planned and prioritised within safe systems, corporate policies, and health and safety legislation.

As part of a one team approach, you will collaborate with colleagues across the Scotland region to deliver excellent service and strong working relationships.

What will you deliver?
  • Conduct timely and cost-effective inspections of fire doors on assigned sites.
  • Use of PDA/tablet devices to follow inspection checklists and accurately report the status of fire doors.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain precise and thorough documentation of completed inspections and related work.
  • Follow company processes and safety procedures to ensure full compliance during inspections.
  • Keep company vehicles and equipment clean, tidy, and well-maintained.
  • Safely handle and set up required tools and machinery.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines rigorously while on job sites.
  • Ensure all fire door specifications and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide flexibility to support other EQUANS projects or tasks as directed by senior management.
  • This role carries accountability for the inspection and safety of fire doors in critical environments such as healthcare, education, and student accommodation buildings, directly contributing to the safety of the public and occupants.

Who are we looking for?
  • Proven experience in conducting Fire Door Inspections is essential.
  • Relevant recognised qualifications such as BM TRADA, FDIS, BRE or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Sound understanding of Health and Safety legislation with certifications such as SMSTS, IOSH, or NEBOSH.
  • Confident communicator with strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Competent administration skills including use of CAFM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Due to the nature of the contract, successful post holder will be required to obtain and maintain Disclosure Scotland to PVG level.
