Job summary

Brent Primary School in Brent is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs in a pupil base. The role focuses on assisting with early phonics, communication and pre-reading development to build foundations for literacy.

The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support and general classroom help within a mainstream setting, working closely with the EYFS Lead and SEND professionals to create a nurturing learning environment.

Qualifications

• Patient, nurturing, resilient and proactive.
• Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), ideally within an EYFS, SEND or specialist setting.
• Knowledge of early phonics, phonemic awareness and early reading development.
• Confident supporting children with early literacy activities and reinforcing phonics taught by the class team.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for children.
• Support early phonics and literacy development.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Collaborate with EYFS Lead and other Teaching Assistants to provide a structured learning environment.
• Support transitions and daily routines as needed.
