Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a vibrant 2-form entry primary school on the outskirts of Wigan to appoint a Level 2 Early Years Teaching Assistant for the Reception class. This is a full-time, long-term role starting as soon as possible, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, with accessible transport links.

The ideal candidate holds a Level 2 qualification in Childcare/EYFS and has prior experience in nursery or early years settings.

Qualifications

• Warm, patient and proactive approach to early years education.
• Experience supporting children in nursery, Reception or early years setting would be advantageous.
• Understanding of the EYFS framework and early phonics knowledge is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Support the Reception class teacher with engaging, play-based EYFS lessons.
• Assist with guided reading, phonics, early writing, and numeracy activities.
• Work with small groups and provide targeted 1-to-1 support where needed.
• Help set up interactive learning environments indoors and outdoors.
• Observe and track children's developmental progress and milestones.
• Promote positive behaviour and build strong relationships with pupils, parents and staff.

Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding, full-time role in the Wigan area? Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a vibrant 2-form entry primary school located on the outskirts of Wigan. They are looking to appoint a committed Level 2 Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their welcoming Reception class team. This is an ongoing, long-term opportunity starting as soon as possible on a full-time basis (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM).

About the Role

Setting: 2-form entry mainstream primary school, Reception class

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the Reception class teacher with the delivery of engaging, play-based EYFS lessons.
• Assisting with guided reading, phonics, early writing, and numeracy activities.
• Working with small groups and providing targeted 1-to-1 support where needed.
• Helping to set up interactive learning environments, both indoors and outdoors.
• Observing and helping to track children's developmental progress and milestones.
• Promoting positive behaviour and nurturing strong relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.

What We Are Looking For

• Hold a recognised Level 2 qualification (or higher) in Childcare, Early Years, or Supporting Teaching and Learning.
• Previous experience supporting children within a nursery, Reception, or early years setting.
• A warm, patient, and proactive approach to early years education.
• A solid understanding of the EYFS framework and early phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds experience is a bonus!).
• An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service (or willingness to process a new one through Tradewind).
