Job summary

Teach South Sussex in Newhaven, East Sussex, is hiring a full-time EYFS Teaching Assistant to start September 2026. You will support the class teacher with engaging activities and help create a nurturing early learning environment for young children.

The ideal candidate will have EYFS experience, a caring, patient approach, and strong teamwork and communication skills. An Enhanced DBS and the right to work in the UK are required or pursued; qualification in TA or Early Years is desirable.

Qualifications

• Has experience working with children in an EYFS setting.
• Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to obtain one).
• Has the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and creative learning activities.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to promote learning and development.
• Encourage children's social, emotional, and communication skills.
• Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Assist with observations, assessments, and classroom preparation.
