Job summary

Simply Education Ltd is recruiting an EYFS Teaching Assistant for a welcoming three-form entry primary school in Romford, starting September 2026. You will support the Early Years team, aid with literacy, numeracy, and play-based learning, and help children feel safe and valued.

The role focuses on assisting the class teacher, supporting children with varied needs, delivering phonics, reading, and writing activities, and fostering positive behaviour and independence. Salary is £95-£100 per day.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children within an Early Years setting is desirable.
• A patient, caring and enthusiastic approach.
• A passion for education and training and supporting young learners.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of the EYFS Framework is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and creative EYFS lessons and activities.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to develop early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Encourage children's independence, confidence and social development through play-based learning.
• Assist with phonics, reading, writing and number activities.
• Help prepare and organise classroom resources and engaging learning environments.
• Support children's personal, social and emotional development throughout the school day.
• Observe, monitor and record pupil progress, sharing feedback with teaching staff.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage excellent learning habits.
• Supervise pupils during indoor and outdoor learning activities.
• Build positive relationships with parents, carers and colleagues.
• Support with personal care where required, including toileting and encouraging independence while maintaining dignity.

About the Role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage. You will work closely with the class teacher to create a stimulating, engaging and nurturing learning environment where every child feels safe, valued and inspired to learn. You will support pupils with a range of abilities, including children who may require additional support with communication, social development or emotional regulation, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
