Job summary

Mount Street Primary School is seeking a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to support our Reception class on a temporary maternity cover basis. You will work closely with the class teacher to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where young learners can thrive.

The role focuses on delivering the EYFS curriculum through play, observations and supportive interventions for pupils with additional needs. We value teamwork, safeguarding, and a flexible, positive approach to help every child reach

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • At least one year's experience in a primary school, ideally EYFS/Reception.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong safeguarding responsibilities understanding.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Join Our Reception Team

Mount Street Primary School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and caring EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our Reception team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting our youngest learners as they begin their educational journey. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help create a stimulating, engaging and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Early Years education and committed to supporting children to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.

What You'll Be Doing

As our EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will:

What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • At least one year's experience working in a primary school, ideally within an Early Years or Reception setting.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive, enthusiastic and flexible approach to supporting children and colleagues.
Desirable
  • NVQ Level 3 (or working towards).
  • Experience supporting whole classes, groups and individual pupils.
  • Knowledge of ICT in the classroom.
  • Experience delivering interventions.
  • Knowledge of TEACCH and/or PECS approaches.
  • Willingness to support extra-curricular activities.
