Job summary

Oakengates Nursery School in Telford is seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join our nursery team from January 2027. The role involves supporting children aged 0–5 through play-based learning and strong, caring relationships.

We welcome applicants with a recognised Level 3 EYFS qualification who are committed to safeguarding, teamwork, and ongoing professional development. 8:30am-4:00pm, term-time plus 4 weeks, fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

• Qualified Level 3 EYFS Practitioner.
• Experience working with young children in an early years or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of child development and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide engaging, play-based experiences reflecting children’s interests across the EYFS.
• Build secure relationships with children, supporting wellbeing, independence and care needs.
• Use observations to understand development and plan meaningful next steps.
• Support communication and language through responsive interactions, stories and play.
• Adapt provision to include all children, including those with SEND and EAL.
• Work closely with parents, carers and colleagues, sharing information and celebrating progress.
• Maintain a safe, stimulating environment and follow safeguarding policies.
• Demonstrate a Level 3 EYFS qualification suitable for this role.
• Demonstrate experience of working with young children in an early years setting.
