Job summary

Burntstump Seely C of E Primary Academy invites an experienced teacher to join a supportive team across Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The post involves teaching Nursery/Reception mornings and leading phonics for Year 1 in the afternoons to foster confident readers and well-rounded learners.

We seek a creative, collaborative educator with EYFS expertise and a commitment to high-quality provision, supported by a caring Christian school community in a rural setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in the primary phase, particularly in EYFS.
• Creative and enthusiastic teacher with excellent classroom practice.
• Secure understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Strong understanding of early reading and phonics; committed to making every child a confident reader.
• Understands the importance of high-quality continuous provision and meaningful adult interactions.
• High expectations of themselves and what all children can achieve.
• Able to nurture children's independence, confidence and love of learning.
• Ability to support and challenge children with a wide range of needs and abilities.
• Works collaboratively in a wider team to raise aspiration and achievement for all.
• Inspires and motivates children, colleagues and families.

Responsibilities

• Teach Nursery and Reception each morning, creating a nurturing and ambitious learning environment.
• Lead phonics teaching for Year 1 in the afternoon and deliver wider curriculum learning for Year 1 and Year 2.
• Work with colleagues to ensure Nursery and Reception continue to benefit from high-quality continuous provision.
