Job summary

PwC Ireland in Belfast is seeking a Senior Associate to lead audits for a diverse portfolio across NI. You will manage assignments, coach teammates and deliver high-quality audit and assurance services for fast-growing clients in multiple sectors.

You will build strong client relationships, apply UK GAAP and IFRS knowledge, and work with the tax team to finalize figures on time. A ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualification and ~3 years of Big 4/international practice are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent from a recognised international accounting institution.
  • At least 3 years practice accounting experience in a Big 4 firm or other international accounting firm.
  • Detailed understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Business acumen to extract insights from market trends and advise clients.
  • Relationship management to build quality relationships.
  • Creative and proactive problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an audit team and set the audit approach for the engagement within budget.
  • Liaise onsite with clients to obtain information and identify risks.
  • Identify key business risks and investigate audit issues to propose solutions.
  • Research and resolve technical queries from clients.
  • Collaborate with the tax department to finalise taxation figures on time.
  • Keep managers informed on progress and budget for the audit.
  • Report findings and raise issues impacting risk or budget.
  • Prepare reports detailing issues and corrective actions.
  • Review junior team members' work for quality and timeliness.
  • Contribute as a collaborative team member and mentor colleagues.

Our Belfast audit team is focused on working with some of Northern Ireland's largest and fastest growing busines s . We have an expanding team of professionals who provide audit and other assurance services to fast growing , dynamic and established sectors of the NI economy. We use our industry expertise an d experie nce to serve our clients who work across a range of industries; including R etail and Consumer, Manufacturing , Pharmaceutical, Hospitality , Technology, Information & Communications and Entertainment .

The Senior Associate role involves taking charge of a broad variety of aspects of audits from planning to completion. The Senior Associate is responsible for organi s ing and managing client assignments ; including the completion of assign ed tasks and project components as well as coaching, advising, and directing team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead an audit team and set the audit approach to the engagement, which makes effective use of team members' skills and is within budget.
  • Liaise onsite with clients to obtain relevant information in order to resolve any queries and to identify causes/risks on issues requiring further consideration.
  • Identify the key business and audit risks of a client and investigate all audit issues to arrive at a solution or proposal
  • Research and resolve technical queries from clients
  • Work closely with the tax department to ensure that the taxation figures for the audit are finalised within the required time.
  • Ensure Manager/Senior Managers (or relevant Partner) are informed on a regular basis on the progress of the audit and relevant issues in respect of budget constraints.
  • Reporting on audit findings to the Managers/Senior Managers and Partners and in particular raise any issues arising during the audit which may impact on risk.
  • Prepare reports detailing issues found and recommending corrective and preventative actions to resolve them .
  • Review the work of junior team members to ensure quality, thoroughness and completion of assign ed tasks within agreed time frames .
  • Work as an effective team member during an audit by communicating relevant issues, requesting feedback and coaching junior team members.
Education/Professional Qualifications
  • Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent from a recognised international accounting institution
  • At least 3 years practice accounting experience in a Big 4 firm or other international accounting firm.
  • Detailed understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Business Acumen - use a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the market and utilise this information to assist your clients in making innovative business decisions.
  • Relationship management - ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships.
  • Creative - demonstrate an ability to contribute to new ideas and propose innovative solutions to problems.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a passion to coach and encourage others to achieve their potential .
  • Ambitious - demonstrate strong commitment to personal learning and d evelopment.
