Numatic International in Chard, Somerset, is seeking an Export Dispatch Team Leader to support the Supervisor in day-to-day export dispatch operations. You will coordinate resources, lead a small team, and drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or operations team environment.
  • Previous team leadership, coaching, or people management experience.
  • Good understanding of company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Oracle (desirable).
  • FLT experience or willingness to undertake training.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Supervisor with daily operations, ensuring work is allocated and prioritised to maximise productivity.

About the Role

We are looking for an Export Dispatch Team Leader to support the Supervisor in the effective day-to-day running of the export dispatch operation. This role combines hands-on operational support with team leadership responsibilities, ensuring resources, processes, and activities are coordinated efficiently to meet departmental targets and business objectives. As a key member of the team, you will help drive safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement, while supporting and developing colleagues to achieve high standards of performance. This is a varied role requiring initiative, sound judgement, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond proactively to challenges in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Requirements
  • Support the Supervisor with the organisation of daily operations, ensuring work is effectively allocated and prioritised to maximise productivity.
  • Coordinate people, resources, and processes to ensure departmental targets and service levels are achieved.
  • Set clear team objectives, delegate tasks, and monitor progress and performance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing more efficient ways of working.
  • Lead by example and consistently uphold company policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Health & Safety, Quality, Security, Environmental standards, and Code of Conduct requirements.
  • Identify, resolve, and elevate operational issues where appropriate.
  • Carry out root cause analysis to identify problems and support effective corrective actions.
  • Collect and maintain accurate operational data and records to support reporting requirements.
  • Provide constructive feedback and practical solutions to improve department performance.
  • Support induction, probation, training, and development activities within the team.
  • Review and recommend updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure best practice is maintained.
  • Coach, mentor, and support team members to achieve high standards of quality, efficiency, attendance, and conduct.
  • Communicate effectively across departments and ensure key information is shared in a timely manner.
  • Train employees to the required operational, quality, and performance standards.
  • Take ownership of your own development by acting on feedback from managers and peers.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.
