Job summary

Verto People Ltd is seeking an Export Sales Manager to lead an international distributor network across Europe and the Middle East from our Sheffield facility. The role focuses on growing revenues by developing existing accounts and appointing new partners, with emphasis on technical sales and strong product knowledge.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in technical sales, account management or distributor sales.

• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Experience managing distributors or international accounts is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel internationally across Europe and the Middle East.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication; additional languages are a plus.
• Full valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop an established network of international distributors across Europe and the Middle East.
• Identify, appoint and develop new distribution partners.
• Build relationships with distributors, manufacturers and end users to grow sales.
• Implement regional export strategies to meet revenue and margin targets.
• Review distributor performance and develop improvement plans.
• Provide technical sales support to distributors and identify customer applications.
• Attend customer meetings with distributors to understand processes.
• Deliver product presentations and demonstrations with Applications Engineers.
• Maintain sales forecasts, CRM records and opportunity pipelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams and represent the business at trade shows.
• Travel 25–35% internationally; rest based at Sheffield.

Job description

An Export Sales Manager / International Sales Manager / Export Field Sales Manager is required to join a well-established engineering manufacturer specialising in precision measurement and metrology equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical sales professional to take ownership of an established international distributor network across Europe and the Middle East, developing existing accounts, identifying new distribution partners and driving commercial growth.

The business is open to candidates from metrology, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, industrial equipment and technical sales backgrounds. Previous export sales experience is advantageous but not essential, provided candidates demonstrate strong technical knowledge, account management experience and a proven sales track record.

Export Sales Manager Responsibilities

• Manage and develop an established network of international distributors across Europe and the Middle East.
• Identify, appoint and develop new distribution partners in territories with limited coverage or opportunities for improvement.
• Build strong relationships with distributors, manufacturers and industrial end users to increase sales and market share.
• Implement regional export sales strategies to achieve revenue, growth and margin targets.
• Review distributor performance, identify commercial opportunities and develop plans to improve sales.
• Provide technical sales support to distributors, helping identify customer applications and recommend suitable measurement solutions.
• Attend customer meetings alongside distribution partners to understand manufacturing processes and technical requirements.
• Deliver product presentations, demonstrations and technical sales support alongside Applications Engineers.
• Maintain accurate sales forecasts, CRM records, opportunity pipelines and account performance reports.
• Work closely with internal sales, engineering, customer support and marketing teams.
• Represent the business at international exhibitions, trade shows and distributor events.
• Travel internationally for approximately 25–35% of working time, with the remainder based at the Sheffield facility.

Export Sales Manager Requirements

• Proven experience in technical sales, account management, business development or distributor sales.
• Background in metrology, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, precision engineering, machine tools, industrial equipment or related engineering sectors.
• A sound understanding of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Experience developing customer relationships, managing accounts and achieving commercial sales targets.
• Previous experience managing distributors, channel partners or international accounts would be advantageous.
• Ability to understand technical applications and recommend suitable engineering products.
• Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills and business development capabilities.
• Confident working independently and managing relationships across multiple territories.Willingness to travel internationally across Europe and the Middle East.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages would be advantageous.
• Good organisational, reporting and CRM skills.
• Full valid UK driving licence.
