Export Operator - Birmingham – Permanent Role

Salary: £33,000 per annum

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, Days

Silver Arrow require an Export Operator for our client based in the Birmingham area.

Your Role:

1. Develop and build relationships to ensure a high level of customer service is provided to clients.
2. Freight is moved to customer specifications, on time with all the necessary customs and legal documentation and records are kept of all daily events and interactive reports.
3. Arrange haulage with shipping line/hauliers.
4. All freight is invoiced and checked prior to dispatch.
5. Ensure pre-alert documents are on hand as required.
6. Requests and queries are resolved and actioned quickly and efficiently.
7. Communication with overseas agents, customers and suppliers is clear, precise and effective to ensure that the freight is moved as per customer requirements.
8. Use customer ERP and SAP systems as and when required.
9. Accurate & timely reporting to department manager.
10. Ensure all documentation is correct.
11. Take ownership of own training and development so as to continuously improve and develop, including training new starters where required.

What we need from you:

1. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in freight forwarding including working for an independent.
2. Experience of working in a high-pressure environment whilst retaining the capacity to remain calm under pressure and resolve problems and challenges efficiently.
3. The ability to prioritise a large number of tasks to ensure accuracy, and deliver results with great attention to detail and a high sense of urgency.
4. Export experience involving shipments to global destinations and working with clear operating procedures.
5. Familiarity with the use of all forms of haulage, sea, road, rail and air for ADR and IMDG shipments.
6. Experience of managing client/customer relations with strong verbal and written communication.
7. The ability to grow repeat business and develop new opportunities.
8. International experience and exposure plus the ability to work with a global network of agents, suppliers, shipping lines, hauliers, and rail and air lines in other countries.
